โš™๏ธ๐ŸชŸ๐Ÿ’ปCP - Edge - Homepage and Startup

Edge opens on the company portal instead of a search box. A small quality-of-life default that points everyone at the same front door.

What this policy is about ๐Ÿ โ€‹

This policy sets what Edge does when it launches: open the customer's portal, and use that same page as the home button target. Instead of everyone landing on a generic search page, the browser opens on the site the organization actually wants people to start from.

The URL is a per-tenant value. It is the customer's own portal, intranet, or landing page, filled in per environment, not a single address baked into a blueprint that ships to everyone.

๐Ÿค” This is a default, not a lock

These settings sit in the overridable namespace, so they set the starting point and let users change it afterwards. That is usually what you want for a homepage. If a customer needs the startup page genuinely enforced, set the equivalent settings in the mandatory namespace instead.

Why this matters ๐Ÿ•ต๏ธโ€‹

The homepage is small, but it is the one screen every user sees several times a day. Pointing it at the company portal turns that idle moment into a shortcut to the tools, links, and notices people actually need, and it quietly reinforces which browser and identity this device is for.

It is a low-impact, high-friendliness default. Nobody files a ticket because their browser opens on the intranet; plenty of goodwill comes from not having to hunt for the portal link every morning.

The example URL is illustrative. Fill in each customer's own portal, and treat it as a per-environment variable so no tenant inherits another's front door.

Caveats โš ๏ธโ€‹

Always use the customer's own URL. Shipping a hardcoded homepage to every tenant sends all of them to the wrong site. This is the same per-environment discipline as a tenant ID: one value per customer, filled at deployment.

It is overridable. Because these settings live in the default namespace, a user can change their homepage back afterwards. If it must stay put, use the mandatory equivalents.

Startup URLs and home page are separate settings. Setting one does not set the other. Configure both if you want the launch tabs and the home button to match.

License and reversibility. Included in Business Premium. Clean-revert: unassign and Edge returns to its default startup behavior on the next policy refresh.

There's no place like the company portal. Point every browser at the same front door, one per-tenant URL at a time. ๐Ÿ
